I replaced Shazam with this private, ad-free open-source alternative
Up until recently, there were only two services I used for song recognition: Apple's Shazam and Google's Now Playing. Both tools have excellent first-party integration on iPhones and Google Pixels, respectively. Now Playing works in the background to automatically identify and save the names of songs you hear as you go through your day, while Shazam is available on iPhones via Siri, Control Center toggles, or Action button shortcuts. This covered my music discovery needs on the iPhone and Pixel, but I was left wanting more while using Android phones from other brands.
