Elon Musk is trying to launch 15,000 satellites into orbit but has already lost the first one and contact with it, leaving it ‘silent’ in space
Elon Musk has a new problem regarding his Starlink satellite company.
Over the past decade or so, Elon Musk has become one of the most enigmatic characters on the global stage. His Starlink company has revolutionized global communication services, but a recent satellite launched into space has encountered an issue of unknown origin.
Why has one of Starlink’s satellites suddenly gone silent in space?
Love him or hate him, Elon Musk has reshaped the world in several ways
Elon Musk began amassing his fortune when his company X.com merged with PayPal, an online payment platform that facilitates payments between banks; just an email is good enough.
After that, he bought substantial shares in Tesla before becoming the company’s CEO in 2008. As we know, Tesla quickly became the undisputed king of the electric vehicle market before Musk’s venture into Trump’s administration saw unprecedented public backlash targeted at Tesla.
But Musk’s crowning achievement has got to be Starlink.
The company has so far sent over 10,000 satellites into space. In the process, Starlink has revolutionized global communications, even allowing soldiers in Ukraine to access vital information regarding their enemies through the company’s network of satellites.
Musk’s ambitions to reach Mars have been backed up by recent space-related developments
Musk has stated for years that he wants to send a manned crew on a mission to the iconic Red Planet.
However, he has pushed the expected date of departure back several times. Leading many to believe that this is just his latest pipedream that is keeping him occupied and out of the public eye.
Mankind collectively celebrated the successful launch of the Artemis II mission recently.
The newest venture to return to the moon has enamored millions around the world. Many of us can still remember where we were when mankind safely landed on the moon for the first time all those years ago.
NASA has revealed that the astronauts in the Artemis II rocket will not only go further than any human has been from Earth, but the cosmic explorers will also undergo several stress and psychological tests while en route to the moon and back.
As we enter a new era in space exploration, Musk’s latest issue has emerged from the Starlink 34343 satellite in space.
Starlink has been experiencing a few significant issues as of late
Starlink has revolutionized the global communication services that we as a society rely on.
The over 10,000 satellites that the company has so far sent into space have mostly operated with few notable issues. However, recent developments have seen a few Starlink satellites facing problems.
NASA and SpaceX have developed rockets that may be powerful enough to get us to Mars, with a few changes that have become necessary.
On March 29, Starlink satellite 34343 stopped communicating. The question is why
Starlink has been sending thousands of satellites into space over the last decade or so.
But recently, a few issues have emerged that must be raising concerns for the company, and Musk, to be fair. The company has set an ambitious target of getting 15,000 satellites in space, which has also been approved by the FCC.
Satellite 34343 recently stopped communicating. The issue has been identified as a “fragmentation event”.
Radar labs noticed debris around the satellite immediately after it stopped communicating. Analysis by experts has suggested that this was likely caused by an “internal energetic source”. Probably a faulty battery or propulsion tank failure of some kind.
Public interest in space is at an all-time high at the moment, driven by Artemis and a recent meteorite that landed in a Texas home.
For Musk however, the issue with satellite 34343 is just the latest in a long line of problems for the enigmatic businessman.
