A cult in New Orleans. Another Jones Town?

In February of 2026 John Freeman CEO of the News Span Media Network and Freebook Platforms Inc called New Orleans Mission to let them know he was arriving on a greyhound bus to join their disciple program. He was going under cover as a homeless man who was just another person in need. He, his daughter Nora and her boyfriend Jack drove the Cadillac Escalade to Baton Rouge. John boarded the greyhound bus in his wheelchair and dirty clothes to begin his one week evaluation of the New Orleans Mission homeless shelter (NO MISSION). John had heard this place is a cult that violates peoples rights. So the only way to know for sure is to go undercover as one in need.

Nora was scheduled to pick him up one week later two blocks from the mission. Tuesday to Tuesday. John boarded the bus at 4AM Tuesday morning and ended up in New Orleans a few hours later. 

During his arrival on the greyhound the NO Mission had a driver and van waiting to pick him up. Upon arriving he was called into the office for an intake. During his intake the NO MIssion administrator told him he is mandatorily required to quit all psychiatric medications, hand over every penny of his social security, food stamps and his phone. He was informed while in the program he is not allowed calls of any kind and he is not allowed to leave the facility for exactly one year. He was informed he is required to see a doctor and have his medically prescribed psychiatric medication weaned off. Something no doctor is legally allowed to do at the request of a third party. The Administrator said you're going to see our doctor. Our in-house doctor will wean you off starting next week. Something John refused to do. So obviously I brought them a decoy cash app card that had nothing on it. This was to give the appearance of compliance. He handed over his medication and went with it. John began to make his evaluation. 

This cult turned out to be worse than what we thought. The NO Mission was very controlling and manipulative. When John asked questions they treated him very badly for simply thinking for himself. On Sunday he started talking to other disciples and stated he doesn't feel safe here. Multiple other people said the same thing. They just deal with it because they are homeless and have no other options. He started talking about how this is a cult-like atmosphere and he was going to leave. John Waited through Monday. Finally Tuesday morning came around. John ate breakfast and acted normal until 8:30 rolled around. Once 8:30 rolled around he went to speak to the office to raise his concerns. John told the Administrator that he refuses to give up his necessary meds and any money he has. John is worth 1.2 Million dollars. He is not just going to hand it over. The office was quick to cut him off stating John did not have a choice. He said “you can do it willingly or by force”. You're not leaving until next year. I said. “You're forcing me here?” The admin said Yes. You signed the agreement. I said “yes I did. But your agreement was missing a few pages. The document you made me sign was three pages, not ten. They purposely hid seven pages. These pages gave the facility permission to force you to stay and comply with the money and medication requirements. So John threw an object at the administrator to distract him while John bolted for the door. Once he got out the door he rolled down the outside walkway when 6 other individuals refused to open the gate for him. So John started ramming shins with his wheelchair until people started falling over and he rolled out the gate. Started yelling really loudly and a police officer was driving by. The officer stopped and John told the officer he was being held hostage by the NO Mission. The officer said he had heard bad stories about that place. So John stayed by the officer while another officer called Nora and told her where her father was. Nora picked him up and waited for the officer to retrieve all his property from the administrators office. The cash app card he gave the administrator has multiple failed ATM request attempts during his week stay. The administrator took his card and tried to pull money off the card without John knowing. The cash app card was real but had no money in it. They were given an empty account. 

Once John received his property John left with his daughter Nora and they proceeded to begin investigating this cult and its leaders. 

People need to be aware of this place and a formal protest needs to come to light.

The fact that they were forcing him off his meds is just one of the many issues John saw.

The legality of it all. If you are victim of a similar cult or  the same one. 

It is highly illegal for a homeless shelter or any residential program to forcefully confine people, stop their necessary medications against medical advice, ban outside communication, or steal their money. 

If an organization is doing these things, it is not functioning as a legitimate shelter—it may be engaging in false imprisonment, extortion, and human trafficking (specifically involuntary servitude or peonage). Legitimate charitable or government-run shelters are voluntary, temporary accommodations, not locked detention facilities. 

Why This Conduct Is Illegal

• Confinement and Isolation: Forbidding someone from leaving for a year and cutting off phone calls constitutes false imprisonment and physical restraint, which violates civil rights laws and criminal statutes.

• Forcing Meds Off: Non-medical staff forcing or manipulating residents to stop prescribed medications is dangerous, unauthorized practice of medicine, and potentially abusive or neglectful.

• Taking All Money: Seizing 100% of a person's earnings or income through coercion, threats, or force violates theft laws and crosses into financial exploitation and peonage (debt bondage). 

• What You Should Do Immediately

If you or someone you know is currently trapped in a place like this:

• Call 911 if there is an immediate physical danger or an emergency medical crisis.

• Contact Law Enforcement: Report the situation to the local police department or sheriff's office to request a welfare check or report a crime (such as false imprisonment or human trafficking).

• Contact Legal Aid or Adult Protective Services: Local legal aid organizations, civil rights groups (like the ACLU), or state protective services can intervene against unlawful confinement and financial abuse.
