Not equal opportunity housing DISCRIMINATION OF DISABLED PEOPLE
NOT EQUAL OPPORTUNITY HOUSING
We are taking a proactive stance in this country. One of the many issues Americans face is the greed in the system. Specifically the rental system. This system is designed to grow revenue and keep people financially broke and homeless.
Most apartment complexes in every major city has two things that harm the economy and people's ability to afford a decent living.
1# They often require 3 to 4 times the rent to qualify for a basic 1 or 2 bedroom apartment. If the rent is $1200 they must bring in $3600 per month or more to qualify.
Problem is. Most jobs only pay minimum wage. In Missouri it is $15 an hour and they barely meet the guidelines.
2# They are required to have a very high credit score.
Which most Americans don't have because they are enslaved in the debt system.
3# Leasing offices won't straight out answer yes or no on these simple questions. Do they have the above requirements. Yes or no.
They want you to pay an application fee for each apartment building you apply for.
Let's look at the Wooten company. When we reached out to the leasing office for guideline requirements and to discuss what is required. They simply said look at our properties and see which ones you like. They manage most of the properties in Springfield Missouri. And they won't answer my questions above. They wanted me to apply for each one individually and pay an application fee for each one just to be told I don't qualify because my credit score is not high enough. After I applied to 18 different properties. They wanted to bill me $720 for all the applications. I'm with most of the hard working residents in Springfield. I'm not wasting my money on this just to find out I don't have a met requirement. They could have easily just answered the questions above and not wasted any more my time.
So News Span Media is petitioning the state of Missouri government to enact a law that will prevent landlords from discriminating against our income levels and credit scores. This is not equal opportunity housing as they all claim to be.
If these companies are going to enforce such ridiculous requirements on their leasing restrictions then they need to wave said restrictions when it comes to people who are disabled and on social security. When we reach out to them and come comment on this they always say oh they need income based housing they should look there. And then we politely remind them that income based housing is very limited and has a 6-year wait list. What are these people to do if they don't meet the requirements that they have.
So that being said the only requirement that should be allowed in this situation is does the disabled person meet enough of the requirements to pay the rent and pay the utilities. Nothing else should be required for disabled people. He's ridiculous requirements make it very very hard for ordinary Americans to become financially stable. Most have to work two to three jobs just to qualify and then we left with nothing at the end of the month. And we feel this is wrong and should be illegal. In fact we intend to make it our mission to make it illegal. Discrimination based on disability status. Disabled people cannot afford the requirements made therefore it is discrimination against disability people.
If you are one of these properties that enforces these ridiculous requirements then we will be blasting this information all over your business as not equal opportunity housing. Are you one of these companies? choose wisely!
