If you're knocking out DoorDash drivers with a baseball bat after they honk at you, police would like a word

A typical early morning DoorDash delivery in Jacksonville, North Carolina on Saturday went off the rails when a Range Rover that was stopped at a red light didn't move when the light turned green.

The 34-year-old delivery driver behind the SUV gave a friendly honk to get the show on the road so she could do her job and deliver an order. This didn’t sit well with the driver of the Range Rover.

They decided to repay the courtesy honk by following her as she made her delivery, then using a wooden bat to hit her upside the head. The bat to honk exchange rate seems weighted heavily in the bat's favor, on paper anyway.

The DoorDash driver says she was followed to her delivery. The Range Rover drove by as she conducted her business, but returned as she was walking back to her car, reports FOX 8.

She said it approached her, then the driver hit her in the head with a wooden bat. She was knocked out from the blow to the head.

Once the DoorDash driver regained consciousness, she drove herself like somewhat of a badass to the hospital. A bat-wielding Range Rover driver on the loose isn't what the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office would consider ideal.

They'd like a word with this person. Sheriff Chris Thomas said, "There does not appear to be a clear motive, the only one we have at this moment is possibly road rage, however that’s an assumption at this point."

It's a fair assumption given the DoorDash driver's version of events. But there could always be more to the story and there's a chance, even a slight one, that the Range Rover driver's version explains what actually took place.

This could all be a misunderstanding.
