Donna Rice Hughes on Newsmax: Understanding the Danger of Social Media to Kids
Donna Rice Hughes, President & CEO of Enough Is Enough, joined Newsmax to discuss kids’ online safety legislation, the dangers children face on social media and gaming platforms, and what parents can do while Congress continues to delay action. Donna explained that Big Tech profits from minor-age children on their platforms while many safety protections remain weak. She pointed to concerns around age verification, the Kids Online Safety Act, online predators, trafficking, pornography, sextortion, and harmful content. She also reminded parents that no child is immune to online dangers. Even good, smart kids can be targeted when they have access to internet-connected devices. Parents can take action now by delaying tech when possible, limiting screen time, turning on filters and monitoring tools, setting time limits, and having regular conversations with their children. Most importantly, children need to know they can come to a trusted adult without being shamed or punished.
